Continuous PCF

Real-Time Predictive Policy Control Function

An AI-driven policy engine that continuously recalculates QoS and charging rules using real-time radio and compute predictions rather than static rules.

Technical Explanation

5G PCF applied static, rule-based policies determined at the start of a session. Continuous PCF operates as a streaming intelligence agent: by ingesting real-time channel state forecasts, battery levels, application queue depths, and network congestion predictions, it continuously modulates QoS parameters, bitrate caps, and slice priorities on the fly to prevent buffer under-runs during critical tele-operation tasks.

Key Functions

  • Dynamic streaming calculation of QoS rules, bitrates, and packet delay budgets
  • Predictive policy adjustments pre-empting network congestion before users experience lag
  • Seamless coordination with Intent-Based Networking (IBN) to uphold high-level intents
  • Autonomous micro-billing policy enforcement based on real-time resource scarcity
  • Automated cross-slice priority arbitration ensuring emergency services override consumer traffic
