Technical Explanation
In 5G, all network functions register their IP addresses and service profiles with a centralized NRF. In massive 6G deployments spanning millions of microservices, LEO satellites, and edge nodes, a single NRF becomes a scalability bottleneck and failure target. NRF 2.0 organizes service discovery as a decentralized peer-to-peer mesh: network functions discover nearest micro-UPFs and AI inference services in sub-milliseconds via distributed hash tables (DHT) and cryptographic gossip protocols.
