The authentication server that executes quantum-resistant mutual authentication protocols between 6G devices and the network.
Technical Explanation
The Authentication Server Function (AUSF) performs the mutual authentication handshake verifying device authenticity. In 6G, the AUSF executes post-quantum 5G-AKA and EAP-AKA' protocols upgraded with lattice-based digital signatures (ML-DSA) and post-quantum key encapsulation (ML-KEM). This ensures that neither base stations nor rogue cellular interceptors can clone device identities or forge network authentication tokens.
