SCG Failure

Secondary Cell Group Failure Information

Signaling message sent by UE to Master Node when the Secondary Cell Group link experiences radio failure.

Technical Explanation

If the secondary link in Dual Connectivity suffers Radio Link Failure (RLF), random access failure, or configuration failure, the UE does not drop the call. Instead, it maintains its MCG connection and transmits an SCGFailureInformation message to the Master Node. The Master Node can release, modify, or change the Secondary Node smoothly.

Key Functions

  • Reports secondary radio link failures without dropping active user connection
  • Transmitted across healthy Master Cell Group (MCG) radio link
  • Allows Master Node to reconfigure or change Secondary Node transparently
