RLF
Radio Link Failure
State declared when physical link degradation persists beyond recovery timers, triggering RRC re-establishment.
Technical Explanation
Radio Link Failure is declared when: (1) timer T310 expires following continuous out-of-sync indications, (2) random access problem is indicated by MAC, (3) maxRetxThreshold is reached in RLC AM, or (4) handover timer T304 expires. Declaring RLF prompts the UE to tear down bearers and initiate RRC connection re-establishment.
Key Functions
- Terminates active transmission upon unrecoverable radio link degradation
- Triggered by T310 expiry, RACH failure, RLC max retries, or T304 expiry
- Initiates cell search and RRC connection re-establishment on candidate cell
