Technical Explanation
When thousands of autonomous drones or robotic arms request instantaneous session establishment or local QoS flow adjustments, routing every session request to a centralized core SMF creates latency bottlenecks. Distributed SMF deploys lightweight micro-instances directly at edge baseband sites, allowing local PDU sessions, network slices, and micro-UPF forwarding rules to be programmed in under 1 millisecond.
