Y1 Interface

O-RAN ISAC Sensing Services Exposure Interface

The standardized open interface exposing cellular radar sensing telemetry from the RAN to external applications and core network functions.

Technical Explanation

ISAC transforms the cellular network into a ubiquitous radar sensor. The Y1 interface, standardized by the O-RAN Alliance, provides the secure bridge between radio sensing engines and external consumers. Through Y1, authorized traffic management systems, weather agencies, autonomous vehicle fleets, and drone air-traffic systems subscribe to real-time target tracking vectors, 3D obstacle point clouds, and rain precipitation maps generated by cellular radio signals.

Key Functions

  • Standardized exposure of radio sensing and radar telemetry to authorized consumers
  • Subscription mechanisms for 3D target tracking, velocity vectors, and intrusion zones
  • Privacy filtering and spatial anonymization preventing unauthorized surveillance
  • Delivering environmental weather and rain clutter metrics to meteorological agencies
  • Direct integration with smart city traffic management and drone airspace systems
