The newly unlocked electromagnetic spectrum band between 90 GHz and 300 GHz offering tens of gigahertz of contiguous bandwidth for Tbps data rates.

Technical Explanation

Sub-THz represents the primary frontier for extreme throughput and centimeter-level sensing in 6G. Situated between traditional millimeter waves and optical infrared, Sub-THz bands (including the 90-110 GHz W-band, 110-170 GHz D-band, and 220-300 GHz G-band) provide massive contiguous channel bandwidths (up to 10-30 GHz per carrier). These bands enable terabits-per-second (Tbps) data rates for wireless backhaul, chip-to-chip interconnects, and holographic streaming, but require extreme beamforming to overcome atmospheric attenuation and molecular absorption.
