Handset Deep Sleep Micro-Timer

Femtowatt Real-Time Clock for Sub-Millisecond 6G Synchronization

Ultra-low-power silicon timing circuit maintaining precise network clock synchronization while the rest of the smartphone is powered down.

Technical Explanation

When a 6G smartphone enters deep micro-sleep to save battery, losing network frame synchronization requires costly, power-hungry re-synchronization bursts upon waking. The deep sleep micro-timer is an ultra-stable femtowatt silicon oscillator with temperature compensation. It maintains sub-microsecond phase synchronization with the cellular frame structure over minutes of deep sleep, allowing the phone to wake up and immediately decode downlink packets without searching for synchronization preambles.

Key Functions

  • Maintains sub-microsecond network frame phase synchronization in deep sleep
  • Consumes less than 100 nanowatts of standby power
  • Eliminates initial synchronization burst overhead upon handset wake-up
  • Extends smartphone multi-day standby time significantly
