Nanowatt-Scale Wake-Up Receiver for 6G Terminals
An auxiliary ultra-low-power receiver circuit on the UE that continuously listens for a wake-up signal while keeping the primary 6G modem in deep sleep.
Technical Explanation
To attain extreme battery life in 6G smartphones, wearables, and industrial sensors, the Wake-Up Radio (WUR) operates at microwatt or sub-microwatt power consumption (<10 µW). It monitors a specialized low-rate on-off keying (OOK) or frequency-shift keying (FSK) wake-up packet transmitted by the 6G base station. Only upon decoding its unique terminal identifier does the WUR trigger the main power management IC (PMIC) to boot the multi-gigabit 6G baseband and RF front-end.
