Cell-Free Distributed Massive MIMO

A distributed network architecture where base station cell boundaries are eliminated, allowing dozens of distributed access points to serve users cooperatively.

Technical Explanation

In traditional cellular networks, users near cell edges suffer severe performance degradation due to inter-cell interference. Cell-Free Massive MIMO dismantles cell boundaries entirely. A dense fabric of distributed Access Points (APs) connects to Central Processing Units (CPUs) via high-speed fronthaul. Every user equipment (UE) is surrounded by a bespoke cluster of coordinating APs that jointly transmit and receive signals, delivering uniform gigabit throughput regardless of user location.
