Continuous Aperture Holographic Surface MIMO
An antenna architecture moving beyond discrete elements toward continuous electromagnetic current sheets that synthesize continuous wavefronts.
Technical Explanation
Classical MIMO treats antennas as discrete spatial points separated by half a wavelength (lambda/2). Continuous Aperture MIMO (CAP-MIMO) views the transceiver as an electromagnetically continuous surface. By controlling continuous surface current densities rather than discrete element phase shifters, CAP-MIMO approaches the ultimate theoretical electromagnetic spatial degrees of freedom, achieving maximum channel capacity per square meter of aperture.
