Arranging thousands of antenna elements in dual orthogonal polarizations (±45° or H/V) to double spatial multiplexing streams within the same aperture.
Technical Explanation
Physical aperture size is a major constraint when deploying thousands of antennas. By implementing dual-polarized cross-dipole elements across XL-MIMO arrays, base stations transmit two completely orthogonal spatial streams from the exact same physical space. This doubles the spatial multiplexing capacity, enhances polarization diversity against random smartphone orientation tilting, and mitigates polarization rotation caused by atmospheric rain and foliage.
