t-StatusProhibit

RLC Status Prohibit Timer

Timer throttling how frequently an RLC AM receiver can transmit RLC Status PDUs to avoid flooding the uplink.

Technical Explanation

Whenever an RLC AM receiver transmits an RLC Status PDU, it starts t-StatusProhibit. While the timer runs, the receiver is prohibited from sending another Status PDU. This prevents the receiver from flooding the uplink control channel with redundant status reports before the transmitter has had time to retransmit missing data.

Key Functions

  • Throttles RLC Status PDU transmission rate on the uplink
  • Prevents redundant retransmission requests before transmitter responds
  • Configured via RRC in RLC-Config IE
