t-PollRetransmit

RLC Poll Retransmit Timer

Timer supervising polling bit responses; upon expiry, the transmitter re-sends the poll to prevent stall.

Technical Explanation

When an RLC AM entity transmits an RLC PDU with the poll bit P=1, it starts t-PollRetransmit. If the timer expires before an RLC Status PDU is received (e.g. because the polled PDU or the response was dropped), the transmitter re-sends the poll bit on the newest PDU, preventing the transmitter window from stalling.

Key Functions

  • Supervises reception of RLC Status PDU following a poll request
  • Prevents transmitter window stalling when control feedback is lost
  • Restarts polling retransmission up to maxRetxThreshold
