SCS 15 kHz
15 kHz Subcarrier Spacing (Numerology mu=0)
Baseline 5G numerology matching LTE subcarrier spacing, with 1 ms slot duration and 14 symbols per subframe.
Technical Explanation
Numerology mu=0 uses 15 kHz subcarrier spacing. Exactly 1 slot exists per 1 ms subframe, resulting in slot duration of 1.0 ms and maximum carrier bandwidth of 50 MHz (270 PRBs). It is predominantly deployed in low-band FDD spectrum (e.g. 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz) for wide-area coverage.
Key Functions
- Operates with 1.0 ms slot duration matching LTE subframes
- Maximizes coverage radius in low-band sub-1 GHz and sub-3 GHz spectrum
- Provides seamless coexistence with LTE via Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS)
