DAPS Handover
Dual Active Protocol Stack Handover
Handover technique maintaining simultaneous active radio transmission with both source and target cells for zero interruption.
Technical Explanation
Introduced in 3GPP Rel-16, DAPS Handover eliminates the traditional 30-50 ms data interruption during handovers. The UE runs two parallel protocol stacks: it continues receiving and transmitting user data with the source cell while simultaneously performing random access and synchronization with the target cell. Source transmission stops only after target link is verified.
