Code Block Segmentation
LDPC Code Block Segmentation
Dividing transport blocks exceeding maximum LDPC block length into discrete code blocks with individual CRCs.
Technical Explanation
If an input transport block exceeds the maximum code block length of the selected LDPC base graph (8448 bits for Base Graph 1, 3840 bits for Base Graph 2), it is segmented into multiple smaller code blocks. Each individual code block receives an appended 24-bit CRC to allow isolated error detection.
Key Functions
- Segments large transport blocks exceeding 8448 bits (BG1) or 3840 bits (BG2)
- Appends dedicated 24-bit CRC to every individual segmented code block
- Enables parallel decoding across multiple hardware hardware cores in the UE
