RF Phase Shifter Beamforming

Beamforming technique applying phase shifts directly at RF frequencies using analog phase shifters with a single RF chain.

Technical Explanation

In analog beamforming, a single transceiver RF chain is connected to multiple antenna elements via variable analog phase shifters and power amplifiers. It forms one narrow directional beam at a time, making it power-efficient and cost-effective for mmWave (FR2) systems where hardware cost precludes per-element digital transceivers.
