Technical Explanation

Standard Type II codebooks generate hundreds of feedback bits. Rel-16 Enhanced Type II CSI applies a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) across frequency subbands, compressing the delay-domain profile into a few dominant delay taps. This slashes feedback payload by 50% to 70% while improving channel reconstruction accuracy for MU-MIMO.
