Smartphone Micro-Doppler Vital Signs
Contactless Heartbeat and Respiration Tracking via 6G Handset Radar
Contactless medical-grade monitoring of human heart rate and breathing rhythms using sub-millimeter 6G radio wave reflections.
Technical Explanation
Operating in sub-THz or upper mid-band frequencies with multi-GHz bandwidths provides sub-millimeter displacement resolution. By resting the smartphone on a table or holding it near the chest, the 6G transceiver emits low-power sensing chirps. Tiny physiological chest movements (1-10 mm from breathing, 0.1-0.5 mm from myocardial heartbeat contractions) modulate the reflected phase, allowing on-device signal processing to extract heart rate variability and respiratory rates in real time.
Key Functions
- Monitors resting pulse and breathing rate contactlessly with sub-millimeter accuracy
- Operates through clothing and blankets in pitch darkness
- Delivers continuous remote health diagnostics and sleep apnea screening
- Complies with human RF exposure and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limits
