Smart-Skin Radome

Metamaterial Frequency-Selective Base Station Radome

Electromagnetically transparent protective radomes embedded with frequency-selective metamaterials that allow desired Sub-THz frequencies to pass while deflecting out-of-band noise.

Technical Explanation

Standard plastic radomes protecting outdoor base station antenna arrays introduce dielectric reflection losses and wave distortions at Sub-THz frequencies. The 6G Smart-Skin Radome is embedded with frequency-selective sub-wavelength metallic metamaterials (FSS). It acts as an electromagnetic bandpass filter, allowing desired 140 GHz communication beams to pass with near-zero attenuation (<0.2 dB) while reflecting harmful out-of-band solar thermal radiation and radio interference, maintaining optimal thermal stability inside the antenna enclosure.

Key Functions

  • Near-zero transmission loss (<0.2 dB) for Sub-THz carrier waves traversing protective radomes
  • Frequency-selective surface (FSS) filtering deflecting out-of-band electromagnetic interference
  • Reflecting solar infrared radiation to prevent thermal overheating of internal RF power dies
  • Aerodynamic hydrophobic surface coatings shedding raindrops to prevent water-layer signal attenuation
  • Architectural camouflage blending high-frequency micro-cells invisibly into building facades
