Distributed Multi-Edge Polar Coding

The evolved information-theoretic error-correcting codes providing near-Shannon capacity performance for short control and sensing packets in 6G.

Technical Explanation

Invented by Erdal Arikan, Polar Codes were adopted in 5G for control channels because they provably achieve Shannon capacity with low complexity. 6G Polar Codes 2.0 evolve the architecture with Fast Simplified Successive Cancellation List (Fast-SSCL) decoding and distributed multi-edge polarization. This slashes decoding latency down to nanoseconds while extending capacity-approaching performance to ultra-short packets used in Ambient IoT and HRLLC.
