Micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) cantilever that harvests energy from human locomotion and device vibrations to charge 6G auxiliary circuits.
Technical Explanation
In 6G ultra-low-power devices such as smart rings, smart shoes, and industrial sensors, mechanical motion represents an abundant energy source. The piezoelectric vibration harvester consists of micro-fabricated piezoelectric cantilevers (using lead zirconate titanate or aluminum nitride) that deflect during body movement or machine vibration. The generated AC voltage is rectified and stored in an on-chip supercapacitor, supplying uninterrupted power for sensor sampling and periodic 6G ambient transmissions.
