Cloud-RAN 2.0

Fully Virtualized vCU and vDU on Heterogeneous Hardware

Decoupled cloud-native baseband processing executing physical and MAC layers across heterogeneous ARM, x86, and RISC-V compute accelerators with near-zero jitter.

Technical Explanation

Cloud-RAN 2.0 completes the cloudification of the cellular radio stack. While 5G vRAN struggled with high CPU power consumption and timing jitter when processing low PHY layer algorithms in software, Cloud-RAN 2.0 utilizes inline PCIe and O-RAN accelerator cards with specialized vector DSPs and RISC-V cores. vCU and vDU container instances run dynamically across public and private cloud fabrics with deterministic sub-microsecond latency.

Key Functions

  • Full cloud-native containerization of 6G physical, MAC, and RRC protocol layers
  • Dynamic workload execution across heterogeneous x86, ARM Neoverse, and RISC-V accelerators
  • Deterministic Linux real-time kernels delivering sub-microsecond interrupt latencies
  • Elastic auto-scaling spinning up baseband processing instances to match surging traffic
  • Massive reduction in dedicated hardware costs through commodity server virtualization
