Coherent CoMP-6G

Coherent Coordinated Multi-Point Transmission

Coordinating carrier phase synchronization across geographically separated base stations to focus signal peaks precisely at user locations.

Technical Explanation

Non-coherent transmission from multiple base stations only adds signal powers. Coherent CoMP-6G achieves sub-nanosecond phase and frequency synchronization across distributed radio towers using precision optical clocks and IEEE 1588 PTP. This allows multiple towers to constructively align the electromagnetic waveforms in the air, creating a dramatic power boost and complete inter-cell interference cancellation at the receiver antenna.

Key Functions

  • Sub-nanosecond phase and frequency synchronization across separate physical cell sites
  • Electromagnetic constructive wave alignment boosting signal-to-noise ratio by up to 15 dB
  • Complete cancellation of inter-cell interference for edge-of-cell users
  • Significant reduction in total required transmit power for green network operation
  • Enabling distributed massive spatial multiplexing across dense urban landscapes
