Technical Explanation
Joseph Mitola's 1999 concept of Cognitive Radio reaches maturity in 6G. Rather than operating on static, pre-allocated frequency channels, 6G base stations and user terminals use wideband sub-Nyquist spectrum sensors and deep reinforcement learning. Nodes detect under-utilized spectrum holes in real-time across satellite, government radar, broadcast, and industrial bands, dynamically transmitting without causing detectable interference to incumbent primary users.
