Bistatic ISAC

Separated Transmitter-Receiver Radar Sensing

An ISAC configuration where one base station transmits communication signals, and a separate base station or user device receives and analyzes the scattered reflections.

Technical Explanation

Monostatic radar suffers when targets have low backward radar cross-sections (stealth shapes) or when strong self-interference obscures close targets. Bistatic ISAC separates the transmitter and receiver geographically: Tower A transmits data to a smartphone, while Tower B (or another vehicle) captures the forward-scattered signals bouncing off objects in between. This geometry reveals hidden targets and provides richer 3D spatial shape reconstruction.
