Aggregating massive multi-gigahertz Sub-THz channels on the downlink while pairing with low-frequency Sub-1GHz spectrum for the uplink.
Technical Explanation
Mobile smartphones have severe battery constraints and small internal power amplifiers, making high-power Sub-THz transmissions challenging. Asymmetric Carrier Aggregation pairs asymmetric physical bands: the base station (which has access to wall power and massive antenna panels) transmits downstream to the phone over a massive 10 GHz Sub-THz channel, while the phone transmits its uplink acknowledgments and data back to the tower on a penetrating, battery-friendly 700 MHz band.
