ZP-CSI-RS
Zero Power CSI-RS
Muted resource elements where the gNodeB transmits zero power, used for rate matching and interference measurement.
Technical Explanation
In Zero Power CSI-RS, the gNodeB silences transmission on specified resource elements. This serves two vital roles: (1) rate matching PDSCH data around neighbor cell CSI-RS transmissions, and (2) allowing UEs to measure true background noise and inter-cell interference (CSI-IM).
Key Functions
- Mutes transmission on designated resource elements (zero transmit energy)
- Enables PDSCH data rate matching around neighbor reference signals
- Forms physical basis for interference measurement resources (CSI-IM)
