Reference signal transmitted with real RF energy used by UEs to estimate channel matrices, CQI, and beams.
Technical Explanation
Non-Zero Power CSI-RS transmits active modulation symbols from up to 32 antenna ports. The UE measures channel amplitude and phase across antenna ports to calculate Rank Indicator (RI), Precoding Matrix Indicator (PMI), Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), and beam RSRP.
