Rate Matching
PDSCH Resource Rate Matching
Mechanism where PDSCH resource mapping dynamically bypasses unused or reserved REs (e.g. LTE CRS or CSI-RS).
Technical Explanation
In 5G NR, rate matching dynamically punctures or fits PDSCH data around unallocatable Resource Elements. This includes CSI-RS resources, TRS tracking bursts, CORESET allocations, and in DSS deployments, the 1-port, 2-port, or 4-port Cell-Specific Reference Signals (CRS) of coexisting LTE carriers.
Key Functions
- Punctures and fits data symbols around reserved reference signal locations
- Essential for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) coexistence with LTE CRS
- Configured semi-statically via RRC or dynamically via DCI rate-match patterns
