PDSCH

Physical Downlink Shared Channel

Main physical downlink channel carrying user data, SIBs, paging messages, and RAR responses.

Technical Explanation

PDSCH delivers high-throughput downlink user payload and higher-layer signaling. It supports modulation up to 256QAM (and 1024QAM in Rel-17) and up to 8 spatial layers. Data blocks are protected with LDPC coding and segmented into code blocks with per-code-block CRC and CBG-based retransmission.

Key Functions

  • Carries user plane data traffic with multi-gigabit throughput
  • Transmits system information blocks (SIB1, OSI) and paging messages
  • Supports multi-user and single-user MIMO with rank up to 8
