Slice Isolation
Network Slice Isolation Mechanisms
Techniques ensuring performance, security, and fault containment between distinct network slices.
Technical Explanation
Slice Isolation guarantees that a traffic spike or cyberattack in one slice cannot degrade services in adjacent slices. It spans: (1) Compute isolation (dedicated VMs/containers), (2) Storage isolation (separate UDR namespaces), (3) Transport isolation (SRv6 VPNs), and (4) Radio isolation (dedicated PRB quotas in the gNodeB scheduler).
Key Functions
- Guarantees strict SLA containment across concurrent network slices
- Prevents noisy neighbor performance degradation during traffic spikes
- Enforces cryptographic and logical security boundaries between enterprise tenants
