Architecture allowing physical 5G infrastructure to be partitioned into multiple isolated, virtualized end-to-end logical networks tailored to specific SLAs.
Technical Explanation
Network Slicing is a signature architectural capability of 5G Standalone (SA). It enables mobile operators to create customized logical networks over a shared physical infrastructure. Each slice is an isolated end-to-end self-contained network spanning the UE, RAN, Transport, and Core network, configured with distinct latency, throughput, security, and QoS guarantees. Slices are identified globally by S-NSSAI (Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information), consisting of a Slice/Service Type (SST) and optional Slice Differentiator (SD).

- Logical separation and isolation of network resources (compute, memory, radio spectrum)
- Customized SLA enforcement per industry vertical (automotive, public safety, gaming)
- Dynamic slice creation, scaling, and lifecycle management via NFV/SDN orchestrators
