Technical Explanation

eMBB extends the capabilities of 4G LTE broadband to deliver peak data rates of up to 20 Gbps downlink and 10 Gbps uplink, with continuous user-experienced data rates of 100 Mbps in urban areas. eMBB achieves these throughputs using wider bandwidths (up to 100 MHz in Sub-6 GHz and 400 MHz in mmWave), Massive MIMO antenna arrays, beamforming, and flexible OFDM numerology. Common applications include 4K/8K video streaming, cloud gaming, Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR), and stadium connectivity.
