Sidelink Mode 1

Network-Scheduled Sidelink Resource Allocation

Sidelink operating mode where the gNodeB dynamically schedules time-frequency resources for vehicle communications.

Technical Explanation

In Mode 1, the vehicle is in cellular coverage. When it needs to transmit a V2X packet, it requests resources from the gNodeB. The gNodeB issues a sidelink grant via DCI Format 3_0 on PDCCH, optimizing radio resource efficiency and preventing packet collisions across nearby vehicles.

Key Functions

  • Radio resources allocated and coordinated centrally by the gNodeB scheduler
  • Uses DCI Format 3_0 on PDCCH to deliver sidelink transmission grants
  • Prevents mutual interference between dense clusters of transmitting vehicles
