CLI-RSSI Measurement

Cross-Link Interference Received Signal Strength Indicator

Layer-1 measurement framework in Rel-18 where UEs monitor received power across designated SBFD sub-bands to detect interference from neighboring UEs.

Technical Explanation

To prevent an uplink-transmitting UE from jamming a downlink-receiving UE nearby, 3GPP Rel-18 standardizes CLI-RSSI. The network configures measurement resource sets where victim UEs measure total received signal strength during victim symbols; if CLI-RSSI exceeds thresholds, the gNodeB shifts the aggressor UE to a separate frequency subband.

Key Functions

  • Measures aggregate interference power received on configured sub-bands
  • Provides Layer-1 telemetry to gNodeB schedulers for dynamic resource reallocation
  • Identifies hidden UE-to-UE interference pairs before block errors occur
  • Supports flexible measurement periodicity to conserve terminal battery life
