Multi-Beam NCR Operation

Simultaneous Multi-User Spatial Beamforming in Repeaters

Equips repeaters with phased antenna arrays capable of forming multiple simultaneous directional beams toward separate moving user devices.

Technical Explanation

To serve multiple users in different locations, an advanced NCR employs multi-beam phased arrays. Commanded by the gNodeB via SCI, the repeater generates multiple independent spatial beams, redirecting Downlink Stream A toward User 1 sitting in a café while simultaneously pointing Stream B toward User 2 walking down the street.

Key Functions

  • Generates multiple simultaneous directional beams from a single repeater unit
  • Serves multiple spatially separated users concurrently without time-division bottlenecks
  • Coordinates spatial beam directions dynamically based on real-time gNodeB scheduling
  • Maximizes spatial reuse and user throughput across extended coverage sectors
