Closed-Loop Slice SLA Assurance

Automated Dynamic Network Slicing SLA Enforcement via NWDAF

Real-time feedback loop where the NWDAF monitors slice performance (latency, packet loss, throughput) and autonomously commands SMF/PCF to re-allocate resources.

Technical Explanation

Manual network slice management cannot react to sudden traffic surges that violate enterprise service level agreements (SLAs). Rel-18 Closed-Loop Slice Assurance interfaces the NWDAF directly with the Policy Control Function (PCF) and SMF: when telemetry indicates an industrial slice is nearing latency thresholds, the NWDAF commands the PCF to allocate additional bandwidth instantly.

Key Functions

  • Monitors real-time network slice QoS metrics against contractual enterprise SLA thresholds
  • Executes automated closed-loop adjustments without requiring human operator intervention
  • Commands Policy Control Functions (PCF) to re-allocate bandwidth and priority dynamically
  • Guarantees deterministic network slice performance for autonomous factories and hospitals
