3D Elevation Beamforming

Three-Dimensional Elevation and Azimuth Joint Beam Steering

Controls both vertical elevation tilt and horizontal azimuth steering simultaneously in Massive MIMO arrays to serve aerial drones and high-rise office towers.

Technical Explanation

Classical base station antennas featured fixed mechanical down-tilt optimized strictly for ground users. Rel-18 3D Elevation Beamforming leverages two-dimensional planar antenna arrays (e.g. 16x8 elements) to steer sharp pencil beams in both horizontal azimuth and vertical elevation, serving high-rise skyscrapers, airborne drones, and ground pedestrians simultaneously without inter-tier interference.
