RedCap Half-Duplex FDD
Optional duplexing mode allowing RedCap devices to avoid transmitting and receiving simultaneously in FDD bands.
Technical Explanation
In full-duplex FDD, handsets require expensive, bulky ceramic duplexers to isolate the transmitter from the receiver. Half-Duplex FDD (HD-FDD) allows the device to alternate between transmission and reception, completely eliminating duplexers and replacing them with a cheap RF switch to lower BOM cost.
