RedCap Antenna Architecture
Relaxed antenna configuration allowing RedCap devices to operate with a single (1Rx) or dual (2Rx) receive antenna.
Technical Explanation
While standard 5G smartphones are mandated to support 4 receive antennas (4Rx) across most bands, RedCap permits 2Rx as baseline and optional 1Rx for compact devices. This eliminates bulky RF routing, simplifies antenna design, and slashes power consumption in compact smartwatches.
