Packet Error Rate

Upper bound on the fraction of user plane packets lost or dropped during transit across the 5G system.

Technical Explanation

Packet Error Rate (PER) defines the upper bound for uncorrected packet loss on non-congested radio channels. It ranges from 10^-2 for conversational voice (5QI 1, where lost packets are masked by codecs) down to 10^-6 for industrial telemetry and financial trading (5QI 82/83).
