PDU Session IPv6
IPv6 PDU Session Type
PDU session providing native 128-bit IPv6 connectivity with /64 prefix allocation per session.
Technical Explanation
In an IPv6 PDU session, the SMF allocates a unique /64 IPv6 prefix to the UE. The UE generates its own 64-bit interface identifier using SLAAC (Stateless Address Autoconfiguration). This provides massive address space, direct end-to-end routing, and zero NAT translation overhead.
Key Functions
- Allocates dedicated /64 IPv6 prefix per session via SLAAC
- Eliminates Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT) bottlenecks and latency
- Optimized for modern mobile applications and massive IoT deployments
