Mobility Registration
Mobility Registration Update Procedure
Registration update procedure triggered when a UE enters a Tracking Area not in its Registration Area.
Technical Explanation
The network assigns a Registration Area consisting of a list of Tracking Area Codes (TACs). When the UE detects that its current cell broadcasts a TAC not present in its assigned list, it transmits a Registration Request of type 'Mobility Registration Updating' to update its location in the AMF.
Key Functions
- Triggered when UE moves outside its assigned Tracking Area list
- Updates UE location in the AMF to guarantee reliable paging delivery
- Assigns updated Registration Area and refreshed 5G-GUTI
