MIB
Master Information Block
Minimal broadcast message on PBCH providing SFN, subcarrier spacing, CORESET 0, and cell barred status.
Technical Explanation
The MIB is broadcast periodically on PBCH with an 80 ms TTI. It contains 24 bits of RRC payload: SFN higher-order bits, subcarrier spacing common for initial access, subcarrier offset (k_SSB), dmrs-TypeA-Position, pdcch-ConfigSIB1 (specifying CORESET 0 and Search Space 0), and cellBarred flag.
Key Functions
- Defines System Frame Number (SFN) higher-order bits
- Signals subcarrier spacing for initial downlink control channels
- Provides pdcch-ConfigSIB1 to locate CORESET 0 and schedule SIB1
- Indicates whether cell permits UE camp-on via cellBarred flag
