K_UPint
User Plane Integrity Protection Key
Integrity key introduced in 5G providing cryptographic tamper-proofing of user plane data traffic over the air.
Technical Explanation
Unlike 4G LTE which lacked user plane integrity protection, 5G NR introduces full user plane integrity verification using K_UPint in the PDCP layer. This prevents malicious packet injection, TCP hijacking, and DNS spoofing over the cellular air link.
