GUAMI
Globally Unique AMF Identifier
Globally unique identifier of an AMF instance, composed of PLMN ID, AMF Region ID, Set ID, and Pointer.
Technical Explanation
The GUAMI uniquely identifies a specific AMF node globally: GUAMI = MCC + MNC + AMF Region ID (8 bits) + AMF Set ID (10 bits) + AMF Pointer (6 bits). When a UE connects to a gNodeB, the GUAMI in the UE identity allows the radio base station to route N2 signaling directly to the exact serving AMF.
Key Functions
- Globally unique identifier for an Access and Mobility Management Function
- Enables gNodeB to route N2 signaling directly to the correct AMF instance
- Embedded inside the 5G-GUTI temporary identity
Specifications
3GPP TS 23.501, TS 38.413
