Event A5

Technical Explanation

Event A5 requires two simultaneous conditions: (1) SpCell becomes worse than absolute threshold Th1, AND (2) neighbor cell becomes better than absolute threshold Th2. It is typically deployed as a critical handover trigger when moving toward coverage hole boundaries or un-synchronized carrier layers.

Key Functions

• Dual-threshold event ensuring serving is poor and neighbor is good
• Prevents handover from a healthy serving cell unless neighbor is robust
• Standard fallback handover trigger at macro cell borders
